Week 4 of the One Room Challenge was filled with it’s ups and downs! We moved out of our home to my parents house an hour away so that we can be out of the way for the loudest and messiest part of the renovations. The crew comes in on June 1 and the final demo will be completed! They will take down the kitchen/dining room wall as well as our fireplace which are 2 huge dividers in our home that close it off quite a bit. I cannot wait to take these down! It’s going to be a total game changer!

The dotted lines are areas we are demoing and changing, with exception of the kitchen island which isn’t being totally demolished… it’s being expanded by repurposing existing cabinetry and adding a gorgeous bar top extension.

I have been sharing my stone yard adventures on Insta so if you want to see more details & vote for your favorite slab go to my stories and vote or leave a comment here in the blog post! I have been really into White Thunder, Silver Cloud (high variation silver cloud with lots of black in it), Viscont White, and Grey Mist. So far Grey mist is in the lead on Insta but my husband and I are leaning toward The Silver Cloud or Viscont White I saw at MSI yesterday. I have one more stone yard to hit before I decide then I can place the order! Wahoo, that will be a check off the list since the slab will play into both the island bar extension design as well as the fireplace design.

I chose granite over Quartz since each piece is entirely unique. Yes, you need to seal and reseal granite but it is so durable and so unique I had to go with granite. Quartz seems to be all the rage right now in the real estate and resale world but for me, granite is just special, and searching for it feels like treasure hunting! It’s total magic!

Above you can see that I have nailed down all of my flooring selections! I am sooo excited to be using Revel Woods Engineered Kachina Hardwoods! These beauties are so stunning and will last for years to come. Since we have a dog and a toddler we contemplated going with resilient flooring like a luxury vinyl plank but after considering our options we decided to go with these luxurious engineered hardwoods. There are so many factors to consider when choosing flooring in your home. This video by Revel Wood’s Co-founder John Dupra an AMAZING resource if you are looking to replace your floors soon and if you’re not just watch it anyway since it’s hilarious and so well made!

Also, on Insta Stories today, I chatted about why going with a family-owned business for flooring is amazing and even working with a designer to find these amazing boutique businesses is ideal since we have relationships with them, along with access to more inventory so that you can get something special for your home that you cannot find just going to a big box store. ( These Kachina Floors are only available to designers that work with the eDesign Tribe, linked here, your welcome 😉 ).

Revel Woods has been fantastic to work with from the exceptional customer service, to all the sweet personal touches like the welcome package with a handy-dandy checklist, care instructions, and fun flooring facts, as well as, my very own hygrometer (NERD ALERT! see Insta stories on that one too), and wood floor cleaning kit that was selected specifically for my flooring. It’s all the thoughtful touches that make a huge difference and we feel like we not only made a solid investment in our flooring, and we also know how to protect and care for this investment for years to come.

A huge thank you to the Revel Woods Team for the amazing service! I cannot wait for them to arrive.

Below, I have rounded up some of my favorite fine hardwood flooring options from The private eDesign Tribe American Skyways Collection as well as the public Showhouse collection that many eDesign Tribe members played a HUGE part in! You can tour the Seasonal Living’s Virtual Showhouse HERE- it is sooooo impressive- it will make your jaw drop.

If you are looking into new floors and want to work with a company that knows their stuff check out Revel Woods or Contact me here about your project so we can discuss your options! Also if you are really interested in flooring/lumber and want to learn more about why there are so many delays and price changes with wood these days … the video below is another highly informative knee slapper! Nerds and home lovers alike, you will not regret taking a few minutes to watch this!
