WELCOME to WEEK 1 of my Designer Home Styling Tips Series!

Consoles are versatile furniture pieces that can go in almost any room in your home! Entries, foyers, living rooms, and bedrooms, to name a few, are some great places to tuck a console against a wall or behind a sofa. Below I will show you two very simple ways to style your console so it’s beautifully balanced and functional!

CONSOLE STYLING TIPS:
1. Focal Point
2. Height
3. Stack & Balance
4. Storage or Seating

1. Create a FOCAL POINT with a beautiful piece of art that speaks to you or a mirror. Golden Designer Tip: If you don’t have or don’t want to invest too much in a large piece of art you or if you just love a smaller piece you can color block around it to create a larger visual focal point. Color blocking is not only a way to create scale but also add a fun pop of color that you love and can even save you some money on art!

2. Create HEIGHT by a lamp, gingers jars or large sculptural piece to make a statement!

3. STACK & BALANCE until it looks fabulous. Use your favorite decor pieces like photo books, photo frames, mid to small size sculptures, bowels, beads, jars, and boxes to balance both scale and texture! Stack & shift until it looks just right!

4. STORAGE OR SEATING? Where is your console? Is it in your open-concept entry right off the living room? Could you use more storage or more seating in this room? For example: do you need a place to sit when you come into your home to take off your shoes? Or extra conversational seating when guests come over? OR are your entry and living room short on storage and you could use a place for throws, pillows, or even an inconspicuous place for the kiddo’s toys? Maybe the answer is BOTH storage and seating- then a storage ottoman would be ideal! See below for some gorgeous yet functional ideas!
