Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4 (you are here) | Week 5 | Week 6 | Week 7…

Hey there, fellow home lovers! We’re officially at the halfway point of the One Room Challenge, and I’m both excited and a little freaked out to share where my dreamy kid’s bathroom project is at. Remember when I thought peel-and-stick LVT flooring was the answer? Yeah, that didn’t last long. We ended up ripping up the whole floor and starting from scratch…

If you’re new here, welcome! This bathroom makeover is part of the One Room Challenge, a magical event with media sponsor Apartment Therapy. It’s like a design marathon where creativity meets chaos, and we get to cheer each other on from our DIY & design corners. So, after you read this, make sure to hop over to some other blogs and shower them with comments and Insta love—because who doesn’t appreciate a good virtual high-five?

This week has been a whirlwind of progress! We finally got rid of that old LVT tile and the even older, pink 5×5 floor tile from 1957. Talk about a time capsule! Now, we’ve got a fresh concrete subfloor layer ready for the next step… TILE.

Other items checked off the list this week include hiring a pro, patching walls, sanding the ceiling for wallpaper prep, buying wallpaper, tile matching retro wall tile to repair some areas, a trip to Floor & Decor and The Home Depot for tile, grout research, paint swatched, wallpapering supplies, and a few other odds and ends. Also the vanity arrived and we already built it. It’s looking great it took about 1.5 hours for the 2 of us to build! Next up, we’re tackling the shower tile repair, tile painting, and installing the plumbing fixtures. We’re also splitting the sink plumbing to accommodate two sinks, one for each of my kiddos.

And I am pretty sure the tile is going in tomorrow and I am soooooooo freaking pumped. I am going to be making a game-time grout decision which will likely be COLORFUL and| or SPARKLE GROUT. Yes colorful sparkle grout exists and I cannot think of a better place for it to shine than my magical kid’s bathroom.

With four more weeks to go, I’m pumped to see all the creative components come together to create a dreamy little oasis. Stay tuned for more updates and behind-the-scenes pics on Insta.

See ya next week, Homelovers!
