WEEK 8: Details, Details, Details, & After Photos
There were so many finishing touches for Week 8! I made a DIY shower cornice to cover my ugly shower curtain pole, and then elongated my curtains to be floor length, sealed the bathtub with SashCo’s high-performance CleanSeal Caulk, scrubbed the whole bathroom one more time, & decorated. I CANNOT believe I made it to the finish line one time and I am overjoyed to have this space to share with my kiddos for years to come.
DIY Cornice: I used two, 10″ x 30″, framed art canvases from Michae’s and hacked one down to size. Then joined them together with paint sticks, a brad nailer, covered in batting, and fabric. I choose to buy another shower curtain from West Elm to have the exact match for the cornice. They are attached the the ceiling with 2″ L-Brackets. So easy! Literally, anyone could do it. Plus it’s lightweight and 1 person can install it.
Floor to Ceiling Shower Curtain: I used the leftover fabric from my cornice to add to the bottom of my shower curtain, that ended up needing to be 13″ longer after moving the shower curtain up to the highest point in my bathroom. I adhered to the 2 curtain pieces together with iron-on hemming tape.
Caulking Tub: The bathtub had some mold spots that were so stubborn I just decided to take out all the caulk and re-seal using SashCo’s mold & mildew resistant, high-performance caulk called CleanSeal.
